Week 43, 7 -16-2018

Hey, what's up people?

One thing we're able to do a lot of in this area is service. Earlier this week we were able to help someone we’re teaching spread gravel on his driveway. It was a little hot, but we got a good workout, and I tanned up a bit.

We got to have our first interviews with President Caplan this week. I can tell him and Sister Caplan both care a lot about us (the missionaries) and they are trying really hard to get to know all of us. Which isn't easy when there are over 150 missionaries.

This update’s been a little shorter, so I'll give you guys another list.

The scientifically accurate list of the best TV shows.

#Five
Death Note is a show all about geniuses butting heads. Warning: this show is not for the faint of heart. It involves a lot of death, and the main character is a psychopathic murderer. But there are also some really interesting spiritual themes throughout the show and some very difficult moral questions about justice are posed.

#Four
Naruto is a show about ninja wizards. I know it sounds weird, but that's the only way I can describe it. It's all about kinship and determination. The show follows a cursed orphan who is seen as the plague of his village. His only goal is to become the leader of his village so that people will finally treat him with respect. Although all of the adults of the village hate him, because of his curse, all the other young ninjas begin to see him for who he truly is. Along with all the many new friends he makes he learns to turn his curse into a blessing for everyone around him. His big heart and determination change the lives of everyone around him. This show is only for people who have a high binge skill. There are well over 700 episodes, but if you look up a filler guide for it you can get away with skipping like half of them.

#Three
Firefly is definitely what you would call a cult classic. They were only able to make 14 episodes before it was canceled, but the excellent style of antiheroes, and unorthodox science fiction setting, gave the show a devoted fan base that was distraught with the cliffhanger ending. After the uproar from the fans, they made a full length movie to finish off the story. You can watch the whole show and movie in like a day or two if you've leveled up your binge watching skills. It is definitely a show that will always surprise you with what happens.

#Two
Psych is the best comedy ever to be seen on TV. It is a crime mystery show that, rather then focusing on the crimes, takes a deep look at characters. Although it's an over-represented genre they have found a unique style of comedy that relies on the unique characters playing off of each other. Many shows try to pull this off, but this is the only one whose strong cast excels at it. The show is also full of subtle character development that you don't even notice until something big happens in the show, and it all hits you in the feels at once. Along with all that it hands down has the best character duo ever.

#One
Avatar the Last Airbender is the best show ever made hands down. It is a perfect example of how to make amazing characters, and is the epitome of realistic fantasy.  At the beginning of the first book (season) you're just watching a Saturday morning cartoon show, but by the end you are crying over its complicated yet understandable plot and characters. It is full of themes like repentance, acceptance, forgiveness, loss, family, identity, and mental and physical scars and ailments. Every one who is reading this and hasn't watched it needs to right now. You will not regret it.

Stay safe and if a bandit tells you to dig your own grave don't do it. (They're gonna shoot you either way so make him do all the hard work.)
